Smoke Zero Biography

Smoke Zero, whose real name is Joel Sunday Esu, is a talented Nigerian upcoming artist from Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. Born in Oron and raised in Ibaka, Smoke Zero's journey is a story of resilience, determination, sacrifice, and an unshakable passion for music.

Growing up in a family of nine children, life was not always easy. His father worked tirelessly to provide for the family and give his children a better future. Smoke Zero started school at the age of 10, facing life's challenges while gradually discovering the strength and determination that would later shape his journey.

His mother affectionately called him “Good News,” while his father gave him the name Joel. Sadly, his mother later fell ill and passed away despite his father's efforts to save her. Losing his mother was a painful experience, but it became part of the life story that continues to influence his journey.

In search of better opportunities, Smoke Zero moved to Port Harcourt, where he worked as a diesel cooker. Life in the city was challenging, and he struggled with financial difficulties and a lack of support. However, he refused to give up on himself or the dreams he carried in his heart.

He later relocated to Benin City, where he worked as a dispatch rider to earn a living. It was during this period that he met Richie, someone from his hometown who shared a deep love for music. Since Smoke Zero was also passionate about music and enjoyed freestyling, their connection encouraged him to take his musical dreams more seriously.

Determined to turn his passion into reality, Smoke Zero decided to enter the studio and begin recording his music. He met music producer Gazzy Tunez and personally paid for his studio sessions, taking responsibility for his dream even when financial support was limited.

Beyond music, Smoke Zero also worked alongside Richie in the dry-cleaning business for several months. Through hard work and savings, he eventually opened his own dry-cleaning shop. Rather than abandoning his musical ambitions, he used the income he earned from his business to invest in his music career.

For Smoke Zero, music is more than just entertainment; it is a talent, a passion, and a dream worth pursuing. His experiences with hardship, family, loss, work, and personal growth have all contributed to the person and artist he is becoming.
